Journey to Insightful Aging

I'm Susanna Shamim — a businesswoman in my mid-sixties who has spent over 20 years navigating the growing needs of aging parents while managing a demanding professional life.

In the early years, the needs were smaller. A doctor's appointment here, a prescription question there.  But aging doesn't stop.  Each year brought new challenges — recovery from surgery, balance and mobiity issues, loss of dexterity and strength due to arthritis, one parent who needed around the clock care and another who wanted to live independently in her home. 

I have gained knowledge from the years of experience navigating the needs of aging parents, a researcher's obsessive approach to every challenge, seeking answers while weighing costs and finding solutions and products to serve their needs.

Insightful Aging brings together what I have learned — and what I continue to learn — about navigating the realities of aging.

I curate information, resources, technology and products that may help you or your loved ones live more safely, comfortably and independently, while giving families greater clarity as they navigate the decisions that accompany aging.

I created Insightful Aging because I wanted to build something I could trust — and something my mother and father could trust.
